The Roma Rights Center team continues its work supporting Roma communities across the Odesa region. This time, we visited the Roma community living in the Bolshovyk district of Odesa. It was a meaningful trip, as many of the women there haven’t been able to attend our events — so we brought the help straight to them.
During the visit, our team connected with local women and gathered information about their most urgent needs. We spoke with them about access to free legal and psychological support — something we know can make a big difference.
One of the most important parts of the trip was delivering Dignity Kits to nine Roma women. These kits were put together with care, specifically to support women living through the challenges of war. They include essential hygiene and personal care items that help meet basic needs and offer some daily relief.
It was important for us to reach those who need support the most. Our team is committed to creating a safe, welcoming space where every woman feels heard, helped, and protected.
The trip was part of the project “Sustainable Development and Self-Realization Program for Roma Women, Teens, and Children in Odesa Region”, supported by HIAS and the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA).
We’re grateful to be part of such meaningful efforts and will keep working to ensure Roma women have access to the resources and services they deserve.
