We recently visited the Roma community in the Bilshovyk neighborhood of Odesa to host an important outreach and awareness-raising event for Roma women. The initiative was organized in collaboration with the Support Center for Survivors of Domestic Violence.

The event took place at the Day Center for Social and Psychological Assistance for survivors of domestic and gender-based violence, part of the Odesa City Council’s Social Services Center.

During the meeting, our legal and psychological experts led discussions on several key topics, including:

• building self-esteem, taking care of one’s health, and coping with stress;

• how to recognize gender-based violence, prevent it, and respond in dangerous situations.

Participants received individual legal and psychological consultations, as well as dignity kits tailored to their specific needs during wartime.

We remain committed to creating a space of equality, support, and safety for every woman.

This event was held as part of the project “Sustainable Development and Self-Realization Program for Roma Women, Adolescents, and Children in Odesa Region,” supported by HIAS in partnership with the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA).
