In the village of Korsuntsi, part of the Krasnosilska Territorial Community in the Odesa region, there is a compact Roma settlement known as the “Indian Quarter.” Since the early 1990s, around 30 Roma families have settled here, building their homes on their own. However, for many years, they lived without basic necessities — centralized water supply and electricity. While the electricity issue was resolved by 2015, access to clean drinking water remained a critical need, with most residents having no access to it.
In 2023, thanks to the support of the King Baudouin Foundation, the situation was fundamentally improved. Large-scale water infrastructure work was carried out in the neighborhood: trenches were dug, pipes were laid, and manholes, water meters, and taps were installed. As a result, eight low-income Roma families gained access to clean drinking water, and their homes were connected to the central water supply system.
